The Renaissance Art Tour

Introducing you to the art of the Renaissance in Venice.

Walk Itinerary....We visit The Accademia (art museum) and churches. We always begin at the Accademia and travel elsewhere by foot or traghetto (a gondola ferry which traverses the Grand Canal- you can sit, but true Venetians stand, stopping for an espresso along the way. We look at the best art of the period as created by the great Venetian masters (see below). The emphasis is obviously on Venetian Renaissance art, but we point out architectural, historical, and other features of Venice.

We compare the art of Venice to that of Florence, highlighting their differing attitudes to colour, design, and sculpture. We will not look at every painting in Venice, but rather at the best of the following Venetian painters: Giovanni Bellini, Vittore Carpaccio, Giorgione, Tiziano (Titian), and Tintoretto.
